Hand pain can be more limiting than we realize until we have “hand pain”. Treating hand pain at home, you will be given a home exercise program (HEP) after your first or second visit at physical therapy. The HEP is designed to make you an active part of your recovery after your injury/diagnosis/surgery.
An injury to the hand is a big deal to all of us, particularly if it happens to be your dominant hand. We do not realize how much we use our hands until we have hand pain. Knowing the cause of your hand pain will help your Physical Therapist develop a plan of care in clinic for your specific diagnosis,
Hand pain can be caused by disease or injury affecting any of the structures in the hand, including the bones, muscles, joints, tendons, blood vessels, or connective tissues. Persistent pain may result in you deciding to see a board certified hand surgeon for further advice.
