On October 8th, 2020 Tim Phillips tested positive for Covid-19 at Tennova Healthcare in Shelbyville. He spent 3 days in the hospital. He was later transferred due to the fact regular oxygen became ineffective, and had to be placed on a ventilator for 8 ½ days. He later returned to Tennova and admitted to the Critical Care Unit.
When he was transferred back to Tennova, he had to begin therapy on his legs because he was unable to walk. “The muscles in my legs were gone, I couldn’t even stand on my own”. On November 8th, 2020 it was decided his next step would be to start intense therapy at Trust Point. With their help he learned to stand on his own again and begin walking short distances with the assistance of his walker. Even though he could use a walker, it was still a strain on him when he left on November 24th, 2020. Walking up and down stairs, standing in the shower was also still problems for him. He purchased a shower bench which really helped. He knew he still had some things to work on and he reached out to Elite Physical Therapy on November 25th, 2020. That’s when things really took a turn for the better!
Mr. Phillips commented “within days, it was evident my daily active abilities were coming back”. Some of his exercises included the treadmill, steps, balance and overall endurance. Those things really made a large impact on his life. “Thanks to Elite, my life is back to normal. I am very appreciative of the dedicated employees and their knowledge to help me get the therapy I needed”. He also informed us he has put away his walker and his shower bench has been dismantled. We are so glad we were able to help him with his recovery. Great work Tim and thank you for choosing Elite Physical Therapy and Balance Therapy Center.
