Frank Eichler and his Rotator Cuff Tear

Frank Eichler’s story

“I am 64 years old and haven’t learned anything,” according to Elite Shelbyville’s patient Frank Eichler after his Rotator Cuff Tear Repair.  Last February, Frank was pruning about 110 pear trees on his farm using a chainsaw and a pole saw.  Within a few weeks, Frank’s shoulder became very sore.

When thinking it was time to go see a doctor about his sore shoulder, the Covid-19 restrictions discouraged visiting the doctor unless there was an emergency.  Finally in September, he got an MRI and his doctor confirmed he had a “good size” tear.  Had rotator cuff surgery in early November and started PT shortly after.

Frank’s physical therapy was initially limited to wrist and elbow exercises and passive range of motion only at the shoulder level, to protect the rotator cuff repair. Within weeks, Frank was progressing to active-assisted, meaning an outside force is helping the surgery arm move. Frank is currently working on strengthening his shoulder to pre-surgery levels.

When asked about his therapy at Elite, Mr. Eichler says, “It was GREAT!
I am not a patient person but the Elite PT team made sure to keep me from doing too much at first. Also, the wonderful therapists don’t just follow the same routine. When they hear me struggling with my exercise, they do a reset and try something different.”

Thank you Mr. Eichler for choosing Elite Physical Therapy and letting us help you FEEL BETTER FASTER!
