Daniel Morrison’s IT Band Syndrome

Daniel Morrison was looking forward to running the Nashville Marathon when he quickly suspected he might have IT Band Syndrome.  Not long after he began training for the marathon, he noticed a sharp pain on the outer part of his knee. Occasionally, it even caused his knee to ‘lock-up’ and prevent his running.

Daniel knew he needed to do something quickly to resolve his issue to safely continue training. Being a previous patient at Elite Cool Springs, he knew he could call and come straight to therapy through Direct Access. Daniel was concerned because he was participating in a strict COVID19 quarantine due to having an immunosuppressed family member and was not able to come in for his physical therapy. Via Telehealth, he still received tailored treatment from our therapist.

His pain was quickly identified as Iliotibial band (IT band) syndrome. It’s a painful injury common in long distance running. Daniel began physical therapy and after a few visits, he was able to increase his miles again.
