Achilles Tendon Tear Can’t Stop Cynthia Armstrong

Cynthia Armstrong is a patient in our Cool Springs clinic in Franklin, TN.  Cynthia was coming out of work on a Friday with a colleague.  They were walking and talking when they stopped on the side walk to continue their conversation.  Cynthia took a step to the left and her foot slipped off and down the corner of the sidewalk curb.  There was a gap between the curb and the parking asphalt that her foot slipped down into at the same time that she was falling to the ground.  As she fell, her foot stayed caught in the gap but hyper-extended forward toward her shin, stretching her achilles tendon.  She iced it down over the weekend, but by Monday, it was feeling much worse.  Cynthia’s boss suggested she go get it checked out, so she went to Emergency Care who determined it was not broken.  They did send her to Franklin Ortho to get an MRI which determined she had completely torn her Achilles tendon.  Surgery was scheduled a week later to sew the tear back together.

Cynthia’s injury after surgery didn’t keep her from work as she has a desk job, but the leg was still pretty weak and needed quite a bit of therapy to strengthen her leg.  After about seven visits at Elite, she started to feel better.  Walking has improved remarkably, but she still wants to get to a point where she can walk and run without hesitation.  But most importantly, she wants to get back to her ballroom dancing as before.  When asked about her therapy, Cynthia responded, “It has been great.  The Staff is wonderful and all want to help you recover to 100% or as close to that as possible.  If I see others in a boot, I always recommend them.”

Thank you Cynthia for trusting us with your recovery.  You are so strong in heart, soul, and mind.  We wish you the best in you complete recovery and can’t wait to see you back to your full ballroom swinging self.
